e-Recordation
Registering your trademark or copyright with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) or the U.S. Copyright Office (USCOP) is a great way to protect your intellectual property rights (IPR) against infringement.
As the IPR owner, there’s an additional level of protection: e-recordation of your trademark or copyright with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). CBP has the authority to detain, seize, forfeit, and ultimately destroy merchandise seeking entry into the United States if it bears an infringing trademark or copyright that has been registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) or the U.S. Copyright Office (USCOP), AND has subsequently been recorded with CBP.
As an intellectual property right (IPR) owner, you can partner with CBP to receive border enforcement of your registered trademarks and copyrights through CBP’s e-Recordation Program. There are several steps an IPR owner can take to ensure their trademarks and copyrights are enforced at all U.S. Ports of Entry.
The CBP’s e-Recordation Program is an easy, affordable protection of your IPR. Let’s review your IP portfolio and e-record the assets most likely to be infringed.
Madrid Protocol for International Trademark Registration
The Madrid Protocol is a convenient and efficient way for trademark owners worldwide to file one application to register their trademark in multiple countries. The Madrid Protocol simplifies the process of obtaining and managing trademark registrations in multiple jurisdictions, providing a centralized and efficient mechanism for international trademark protection.
More than 120 countries participate in the program, technically a treaty. Not all countries participate, but the list of participating countries is ever-expanding, with Brazil joining in 2019.
Bilateral protection
Madrid protection is available for U.S. trademark owners and IPR owners registered in a country other than the United States and want to apply for U.S. trademark registration using the Madrid Protocol.
Registration can become costly. Let's make a plan!
Let’s look at your strategic export markets and register for Madrid protection in the countries where you need it.
